Ragged Mountain Ski Club plans next chapter, seeks assistance

CAMDEN — “There are some exciting changes ahead for the Ragged Mountain Ski Club (RMSC),” said RMSC, in a news release.

RMSC began in the 1980s by volunteers to help raise money to support the Alpine and Nordic Ski Competition Program at The Camden Snow Bowl. From the early 1990s to 2023, RMSC continued to broaden its scope to include the 4th Grade Learn to Ski Program, Lids for Kids, the Seacoast Classic race, donating to the terrain park, fundraising events including an annual auction and pancake breakfast, as well as donating funds to support the scholarship program at The Snow Bowl.

And now it is time for RMSC to continue to grow and change with the times.

“RMSC is restructuring so that we can focus our energy on year-round support for our community and area youth,” said the release. “We are happy to continue giving support to winter activities on the mountain and the race program but we will now expand our fundraising efforts to include other projects and events taking place around Ragged Mountain during all four seasons.

“With these changes, we are looking forward to tweaking our name and mission in the upcoming year to be able to promote the broad range of outdoor activities that the Ragged Mountain area has to offer, and to support the area youth utilizing this space year-round.

“Are you interested in getting involved, becoming a board member, or do you have a love of grant writing? Please join this great group as we make these transitions to help the Ragged Mountain area become a sustainable four-season destination for all!”

Note: during this transition year, RMSC will not be collecting membership dues.
