Peter Piconi, a certified business advisor at the Maine Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Waterville, will speak at the Camden Rotary Club luncheon meeting on Tuesday, November 7. 

Piconi will explain the history and work of Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) in Maine to help entrepreneurs with the creation, growth, and success of their businesses.  He will also talk about his work with Coastal Enterprises, Inc. (CEI), one of the nation’s leading community development financial institutions. 

Peter’s foundational training and practice as a field biologist, researcher, and analyst inform his unique perspective on the business world.  As an entrepreneur, he launched and managed an outdoor retail waterfront business and charter/guide service in a highly competitive San Diego market. His business experience led him to the Midwest, where he was a key lead for a start-up regional fishery (RAS) within a budding network of investors.  This work brought him to Maine to manage the Aquaculture Business Development Program for the Island Institute, establishing key partnerships in support of island and coastal fishermen while building a collaborating network of aquaculturists throughout Maine. Piconi holds a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Management from Humboldt State University.  

The Camden Rotary Club meets at noon each Tuesday at the First Congregational Church, Camden, at 55 Elm Street. Visitors are welcome.
