Judith (Rhodes) Walker, obituary

ROCKPORT — Judith (Rhodes) Walker, 85, of Rockport, died on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the Sussman House in Rockport. Born in Portland on February 11, 1938, she was the daughter of Albert and Wilma (Carroll) Rhodes and was a graduate of Rockport High School.

A talented musician and pianist, Judy grew up attending the Rockport Baptist Church when it was located in the village of Rockport. She loved playing the piano at church and growing up in the community.

A loving daughter, mother, and grandmother, Judy was kind and compassionate. Quietly, she was generous and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. In her earlier years, Judy worked at the Pine Point School near Lily Pond. During the holidays when many of the students were away with their families, Judy would include those left behind to her home to celebrate with her own family. In addition, and she worked as a chef at the Sail Loft Restaurant.

Judy also enjoyed playing the piano at the Rockport Baptist Church when it was located in the center of town. She has been a member of the West Rockport Baptist Church for many years.

A lover of all animals, Judy was very kind to stray animals and children in the community. She loved camping and looked forward to many family gatherings spend at the family cottage on Megunticook Lake.

Surviving are her four children, Jeffrey Walker of Hope, Kathi Doherty of Thomaston, Bryan Walker and his wife Michelle of Jay, and Sherri Hart and her husband Andrew of Camden; five grandchildren, Jacqueline Rounds, Richard Doherty, Christopher Hart, Kayla Hart, and Connor Hart.

Judy is also survived by her longtime companion, Richard Bradford.

A graveside service will be held Friday, November 10, 2023, at 2 p.m., at the West Rockport Cemetery, Park Street, Rockport with the Rev. Dr. David English officiating.
