CAMDEN, ME, November 6, 2023 – Press Release – The Bay View Collection is excited to announce four new partnerships with local charitable organizations for an opportunity to give back and show thanks as part of the company’s annual “Great Rates for a Great Cause” giving campaigns available at each of their four boutique hotels in Camden and Rockport. This year, the Bay View Collection has selected the Travis Mills Foundation (partnered with Lord Camden Inn), Maine Coast Heritage Trust’s Aldermere Farm Preserve (partnered with 16 Bay View), Peace Ridge Sanctuary (partnered with Grand Harbor Inn), and the Island Institute (partnered with our all new Rockport Harbor Hotel).

“Giving back to our community is woven into the fabric of the Bay View Collection and our owners, Stuart and Marianne Smith”, says Matthew Levin, Director of Hotels. “The mission of these four charitable organizations matter, and resonates for many of our hospitality family and we are excited about the opportunity to contribute to their great missions.”

Donations for our “Great Rates for a Great Cause” campaign are generated through an amazing discounted offer at each of our hotels. Guests who choose to participate receive a 40% discount off their two or more-night stay (in select rooms and suites), and in exchange for this significantly discounted room rate, guests make a minimum donation of $50/night towards the charitable organization. This offer officially began November 1st and continues through April 30th, 2023.

The Travis Mills Foundation supports post-911 recalibrated veterans and their families through various programs that help these heroic men and women overcome physical and emotional obstacles, strengthen their families, and provide well-deserved rest and relaxation. They support these veterans through their nationally recognized retreat located in the Belgrade Lakes Region of Maine. Veteran families who have been injured in active duty or as a result of their service to our nation receive an all-inclusive, all-expenses-paid, barrier-free experience in Maine where they participate in adaptive activities, bond with other veteran families, and enjoy much-needed rest and relaxation in Maine’s outdoors. We love this mission and we hope you do as well. For more information, visit www.travismillsfoundation.org.

Maine Coast Heritage Trust’s Aldermere Farm Preserve is a working cattle farm offering youth agricultural programming, ongoing education opportunities for professional farmers, and events and community gatherings. Nestled on the western shore of Penobscot Bay in Rockport, Aldermere Farm and its Belted Galloway cattle have been area landmarks for generations. Their Erickson Fields Preserve offers a wide range of opportunities for community members and visitors interested in learning more about sustainable agriculture and gardening. Erickson Farm was a dairy farm for many generations, until the Erickson family stopped farming the land in the 1980s. The family welcomed Aldermere Farm to manage the fields for hay and for grazing Belted Galloway Cattle. For more information, visit www.aldermere.org.

Founded in 2001, Peace Ridge Sanctuary is a nonprofit animal advocacy and conservation organization operating four animal shelters in the heart of coastal Maine. At any given time, their 1,725 acre sanctuary is home to nearly 500 rescued farmed animals, equines, dogs, and companion animals that come from all types of situations where they have been neglected, exploited, or abused. PRS focuses on helping the hardest to place animals – those for whom Peace Ridge is their only chance of survival. When state and local animal control officers need a safe place to bring farmed animals, equines, special needs dogs, or other animals that most shelters are unable to take on, PRS opens their doors time and time again. The Island Institute was founded in 1983 by Peter Ralston and Philip Conkling. Throughout its history, the organization has addressed a variety of needs in Maine’s island and coastal communities and focuses on helping them tackle the most pressing environmental and socioeconomic issues. They do this by focussing on three key areas: Climate and Community, Marine Economy, and Sustainable Communities. The Island Institute envisions that Maine’s year-round island communities will thrive and lead as examples of sustainability, across the country and the world.
