The City of Rockland has hired David Troup as the City’s new communications manager. Troup, a longtime Rockland resident, will start the job January 22.

“We’re excited to have David on board to help manage and improve city communications,” said Rockland City Manager Tom Luttrell, in a news release. “This position will help us share more information about the many things the City is working on, which will give community members more opportunity to share what they think.”

Troup comes to the city after managing marketing and communications for the Farnsworth Art Museum for the past 16 years.

He and his wife originally moved to Rockland in 2005 to be closer to her parents, who have been Midcoast residents most of their lives.

In addition to his role at the Farnsworth, Troup has served on multiple boards, including those of Rockland Main Street and the Pen Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce. He  has taught traditional karate in the area since 2006, and continues his classes at the Pen Bay YMCA, where he volunteered for 12 years.
