ROCKLAND — Rockland Police Department is alerting drivers to two Main Street closures that will be in affect during the 2023 Festival of Lights.

On Friday, Nov. 24, from 5 - 6:30 p.m., Main Street from Pleasant to Park will be CLOSED to vehicles to accommodate for increased pedestrian traffic for the 20th Annual Tree Lighting Celebration. The celebration starts at 5 p.m., with the Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. Vehicles will be able to detour around the closed section of roadway using Pleasant and Union Streets. See attached road closure map.

On Saturday, Nov. 25, from 5:30 p.m. until the end of the parade, Main Street from Park to Rockland Ferry Terminal will be CLOSED to vehicles to accommodate for pedestrian traffic lining Main Street and the parade route. This closure will then extend through Park Street to the Pleasant Street intersection starting at 6 p.m. when the Parade starts.

“If traveling through Rockland, please use Route 1A (Broadway) to avoid the road closure,” said RPD, in a news release. “PLEASE plan for increased traffic during these events and give yourself time to find parking, watch for pedestrians and drive carefully. We hope to see you all there!”

Anyone with questions regarding the road closures can contact Deputy Chief Alex Gaylor at AGAYLOR@ROCKLANDMAINE.GOV or (207) 594-0316 Ext. 253.
