AUGUSTA — Jesse F. Hilt Jr, 65, of Augusta, passed away peacefully to his favorite song played on guitar by his first grandson, Owen. He was listening to music and surrounded by his loving family on November 15, 2023, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Jesse was born on February 4, 1958, to parents Jesse F. Hilt Sr. and Lorraine M. (Watts) Hilt.

Jesse, known as Bobo in his adolescent years, grew up in Union and attended local schools, graduating from Medomak Valley High School. His passion for cooking carried him through several careers as head chef, including the Seven Tree Manor, Bancroft, and the Hilltop Home.

In his free time, Jesse loved to be outdoors, and loved spending time with his family. He was a Momma’s boy and the apple of his father’s eye. He also had a love for music; the radio was always playing in the background. He even played the harmonica. When he was younger, he enjoyed motorcycle riding, hunting, and four wheeling.

Jesse was known and loved by so many people. He was known to be charismatic, kind-hearted, outgoing, outspoken, generous, and the ‘life of the party’. He was completely selfless and always helping everyone, including strangers. He showed people how to live life fully.

Jesse was predeceased by his father, Jesse F. Hilt Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Jesse and Bessie Hilt; maternal grandmother Jenny Watts Butler; and brother Bennie Joe Hilt Maddocks.

He is survived by his significant other of 25 years, Tammy Brown; his mother, Lorraine Hilt; daughter, Sierra Hilt and significant other Nathan Dolley of Massachusetts; son, Jesse Hilt III of Augusta; grandchildren Owen and Jackson Dolley of Massachusetts; sisters Colleen (Coco) Hilt and significant other Damon, Darlene (Dede) Darling, and Vicki Harris and husband Joe; brother Ricky Hilt; ex brother-in-law Joe Darling; special nephews Jason Jones and Carlton Darling, along with several other special nieces and nephews, and lots of friends.

Jesse’s family would like to thank the incredible staff at Maine Medical Center for all they did for Jesse and his family during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 2, 2023, at 2 p.m., at the Warren Odd Fellows Hall, 37 Camden Road, the corner of Rt. 90 and Rt. 1, Warren, ME 04864.
