THOMASTON — Pope Memorial Humane Society (PMHS) announces its 6th Annual Pet Angel Tree. This holiday tradition allows community members to spread holiday cheer to the shelter’s homeless animals.

“We are so grateful for the continued support of our community in making the Pet Angel Tree a success,” said PMHS marketing and PR manager Kasey Bielecki, in a news release. “Thanks to the generosity of our amazing animal-loving community, we can ensure that every pet at PMHS has a special holiday season.”

Beginning December 1, visitors to the shelter can select a tag from the Pet Angel Tree. Each tag features a photo of an animal, their name, and a wish list of items that would make their stay at PMHS more comfortable. These items may include toys, treats, bedding, or other supplies to make their stay more comfortable.

“Wrapping gifts is highly encouraged,” said Bielecki. “The animals love playing with paper and boxes (supervised), adding an extra layer of fun to their holiday celebration.”

For those unable to visit the shelter in person, PMHS offers an online option to participate in the Pet Angel Tree. Simply email Kasey@popehumane.org to request a tag or two. Gifts for the animals can be delivered to PMHS and placed beneath the tree, Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additionally, you can visit Ruckus Donuts in downtown Rockland or Laurel’s Dolce Vita in downtown Thomaston for satellite PMHS Pet Angel Trees.

“With any luck, some of the animals featured on the tags will find their forever homes this holiday season,” said Bielecki. “Any gifts purchased for those animals will be passed along to their friends still at the shelter, waiting for their perfect homes to come along.”
