BELFAST — Elizabeth "Ginger" Thompson Jackson, 101, of Belfast, passed away November 27, 2023. She was born in Belfast, Maine July 2, 1922 to Lynwood and Leila Howard Thompson of Belfast. She graduated from Crosby High School Class of 1940.

Ginger had a love for travel, and she followed this passion on many exciting adventures in the U.S. and abroad. When her children were young, she took them camping during the summer to destinations all over the East Coast. Later in life, her adventures took her (mostly by car) to all 50 U.S. States, in which she visited as many historic parks, mines, caves and tunnels as possible. International travel destinations included Russia, China, Egypt, Greece, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Turkey and eight countries in Europe. She cruised through the Panama Canal, visiting many islands and other spots in South America and Mexico. These adventures always yielded great stories and in 2006 Ginger finished documenting her travels in a book called "Traveling on a Shoestring After 50". When she wasn't traveling, Ginger enjoyed spending time with her family and taking Sunday rides. She knew the roads of Waldo County like the back of her hand.

She was predeceased by her parents; son Lynwood Jackson; grand-daughter, Jasmyn Lee Jackson; son-in-law, Ralph Rich; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Sue Thompson; and niece Susan Wilde.

She is survived by three daughters, Laurene Rich, Kay Jenness (Randy), Lois Dutch (Greg); son Lee Jackson (Susan); daughter-in-law Rainey Jackson; six grandchildren, Fred Rich (Debbi), Donyce Rich (Bill), Todd Jackson (Jan), Sarah Jenness (Jeff), Ian Dutch (Lucy), Abby Farnsworth (Ryan); six great grand children, Shannan (Emerick), Connor, Cassie, Nora, Emmie and Aubrie.
